A couple of weeks ago I went to the beautiful isle of Malta... Except from a lot of sunshine, beautiful beaches and lovely sunsets Malta also has to offer very tasty food! I ate delightful tuna sandwiches, yummy pizza slices, a heavenly piece of cake and one exquisite ice cream!!!One day we visited the ancient town Mdina, the former capital of Malta. Once you enter the city through a beautiful city gate you immediately have the feeling that you are in the Roman era. The narrow streets, the small houses with their little front doors, the peace and quite... From the beginning Mdina astonished me. And at that moment the best was yet to come! After walking a half hour we decided to go to the Fontanella Tea Garden, a cafe known for their cakes and breathtaking, panoramic views. In this lovely cafe we decided to try out their famous cakes! I took the chocolate-hazelnut cake with apple and my company took a rich double chocolate cake with strawberries, chocolate with caramel and baci cake. Full of anticipation 10 minutes later our sweet and dazzling cakes appeared! All of them looked and tasted amazing!!! Although I was afraid that the cake would be heavy, because of the chocolate and nuts, the opposite was true the cake was very airy and fluffy. The combination of apple and chocolate was quite good but I liked the baci cake even more which was the same cake but without the apple. So after tasting these yummy cakes I really understand why Fontanella Tea Garden is famous for their home-made cakes!
A couple of days later my boyfriend and I decided to make another city trip. This time to Valetta. So, we took our bikes and rode 9 kilometers with some nasty hills to the capital of Malta.
