"Share your favourite speculaas recipe with us!" appeared on my facebook-timeline almost a year ago. I had some free time and received nice compliments on an ice-cake with a speculaas crust I recently made. So, I shared my favourite speculaas recipe. Months passed and I totally forgot about the recipe until on an idle Tuesday I received an email from Lotus Bakeries: "Congrats, you will be part of the first Lotus Speculaas Cookbook. We would like to invite you to the official release." I was astonished. And flattered! So a couple of weeks later I was eating mini-speculaasjes and other yummy Lotus treats while listening to the charismatic CEO of Lotus Bakeries. They provided us a tour in the Lotus factory where all the magic happens! Unfortunately, I had an exam the next day and had to leave early. Still, I would like to see the magic someday!
